My account is frozen
What it means when TakePublic freezes an account or a company workspace, what stays visible, and how the freeze is lifted.
What a frozen account means
TakePublic freezes an account when someone other than its owner may be using it, most often after a company reports it compromised; every sign-in and request is refused until the freeze is lifted.
Nothing is deleted. The person's filings and history stay visible to their company exactly as before, and their seat on each company stays in place.
What changes while an account is frozen
Four things change, all of them reversible.
- Sign-in is disabled and every signed-in session, on every device, is ended.
- Signing links, questionnaire links, counsel sign-off links and invitations sent to the person stop working; whoever needs one sends it again after the freeze is lifted.
- Notifications to the person (email, text, push and the in-app bell) are held.
- The company's admins are emailed that the account was frozen and when. They are not told why; that conversation is between the company and TakePublic.
The company's audit trail records the freeze as Frozen by TakePublic, with the date and the operator's role; the operator's written reason stays with TakePublic.
Lifting the freeze
A company admin confirms with TakePublic support, from the Help widget, that the account is back in its owner's hands. TakePublic lifts the freeze and emails the person; they sign in again with their password and two-step method.
Support never asks for a password or a code. If the account was compromised, change the password and replace the two-step method before signing in again.
A frozen company workspace
TakePublic can also freeze a whole company workspace. Every record stays readable; nothing can be changed or filed, submissions still queued for EDGAR are withdrawn, every seat is signed out and outgoing messages are held. The workspace shows "frozen" while this lasts, and the company's admins are emailed. Unlike a closed company, a frozen one is reopened by TakePublic in one step, and the audit trail records both.

TakePublic is a technology platform, not a law firm, broker-dealer, or auditor. Forms 3, 4 and 5 prepared in TakePublic file only after the reviewer the company designates, such as its securities counsel, signs off; any other filing prepared in TakePublic files only after a licensed securities attorney signs off.
