TakePublic

Refer a client

Invite a new company onto TakePublic from Practice and land as their auditor or counsel when they onboard.

The referral dialog on Practice. When the company accepts, your seat (and your firm's, if you have one) is already in place.

Send a referral

TakePublic emails the contact a join link that expires in thirty days.

  1. Select Refer a client on Practice.
  2. Enter the company name, contact email, optional ticker, and the auditor or counsel role you will hold.
  3. Send the referral.

What the prospect sees

The link opens /join/[token], a public landing page naming you (and your firm, if you belong to one) and the role you proposed. Get started sends them into onboarding with the referral attached. If the link is expired or invalid, they can ask you to send a fresh one.

When they complete onboarding

Accepting the referral during onboarding connects you to the new workspace in the role you chose. If you belong to a firm, an active firm engagement is created so every colleague inherits the seat.

If you refer solo, you receive a direct tenant membership. You get an email when the company finishes onboarding, and the client appears on your Practice portfolio.

TakePublic uses different links for different relationships. Do not mix them up when explaining access to clients or colleagues.

  • /join/[token]: client referral. Brings a new company onto the platform. Only for prospects who do not yet have a TakePublic workspace.
  • /invite/[token]: company team invite. Adds a person to an existing company workspace with a role the company admin chose (company user, company admin, auditor, or counsel).
  • /firm-invite/[token]: firm colleague invite. Adds a licensed professional to your law or audit firm on Practice, not to a client company.

Professional responsibility

If you refer a company as counsel, your attorney-client duties run to that client under your own engagement terms, independent of the software.

Note

Referrals are a growth path, not legal advice. TakePublic is a technology platform, not a law firm.
